A Typical Club Flying Day
As you can see - just like most clubs - everyone is standing around talking instead of flying! (Actually the runway and flyers are out of sight to the right of the picture.)

Aerobatics are one area many members like to try. This is the Seagull Models Super Stearman ARTF linked to an Irvine 53 and Just Engines Purple Pipe. Loads of nice quite power 11500RPM on a 13"x6" prop gives some idea of the work that the pipe is doing! |

But Luke Shaw, One of our youngest members, likes not only to do it at less then head height but with the trainer he learned to fly on not that long ago. The model is the Flair Piper Cub an excellent trainer if you don't mind building (and it isn't difficult to build). It is one of the very few trainers that beginners don't stop flying once they have learned to fly. Oh by the way, if anyone from Flair is reading this, Luke has ambitions to be in your display team - he already is in Pete Tindal's team! |

There are some keen scale modellers in the Club. Perhaps the most prolific of these is Tony Major who nearly always builds his own designs. Tony specialises in 'simple scale', aircraft that look right in the air (and incidently always seem to fly beautifully) but with easy to build and maintain structures. Oh he also has a thing about twins as well!
Below left is his Mosquito, still available, I believe, as a plan and once featured on the cover of RCM&E and Right his "Witwell" (a cross between a Wellington and a Whitley!)

Tony Brings His Mosquito and Whitwell In To Land (Not at the same time - he's good but not that good!)
No club would be complete without a few scale fighters - Below can be seen the Hurricane belonging to Fred Clark, our secretary.
Fred's Hurricane in Menacing Pose and, Below, Showing Apt Squadron Letters.
Another regularily seen scale model is John Bransgrove's Jiant Jabberwock, impressively powered it also makea a great glider tug!

Jets and electric are also beginning to feature more and more in the Club. The jets have their own page here and two of our members flew at the Brooklands GTBA meeting pictured here
