The GTBA Fly-in Page 2

Both of our club jets flew at the GTBA meeting. These are 'Vectors' designed by Tony Major with homebuilt (mostly by Tony Fuller) PT 75 Gas Turbines. The PT 75's produce about 17lb of thrust at full throttle and the Vectors weigh about 13lb dry. The 1 to 1.5 litres of paraffin (kerosin) they hold is good for about 6 minutes flying.

Tony Major nearly didn't fly when his pump failed to pump! Fortunately this was fixed.

The Vectors both flew very well indeed. Neither pilot using more than half throttle at any time.

Although Tony Major often builds his own designs and has had plans published, to design a jet aircraft, having never operated one before, was very ambitiousness. The result, I think, is a very pretty aircraft that flies well and is not too fast for a first jet.
